Looking fwd to this event Sunday at Oklahoma University with Dr Tiffany Crutcher for the George McLaurin & Sylvia A. Lewis Leadership conference. It is named for the first African American student to attend classes at OU and the first African American to sit on their Board of Regents. The conference targets African American high school seniors that have been admitted to OU. They invite them to spend a day and a half with us right on campus where we discuss topics that range from Academic Readiness to Leadership in the Black community on campus, to becoming spokespersons and active agents for social justice. This will be the sixth year of the conference. Big thanks to Trey Moore (Booker T Washington alumni) for pushing for OU to bring myself and Dr Crutcher as keynote speakers for the conference. As you could imagine, there was some hesitancy by OU but we are going to engage with the students and push them to be active members on campus and in the community, and break down for them exactly why the stakes are so high. OU here we come !!!!
